Description

Pitons (anchor hooks) are designed for protection points on rock terrain. Can be used in mountaineering, mountain tourism, and caving ascents.
Made of hardened steel with an anti-corrosion coating.
A piton placed in a vertical crack, hammered in fully up to the upper eye, withstands the greatest loads. The piton's shaft should rest against the rock.
In this case, the minimum breaking strength is 18 kN.
However, due to its geometry, the piton can also be used with the blade not fully hammered in; under load, it will tend to drive deeper.
Placing the piton in horizontal or sloping cracks is ONLY possible for progression using aid climbing techniques (ITO), not for protection!

The length of the piton used is determined by the depth of the crack. Available in four sizes:
105 mm
115 mm
125 mm
130 mm
Specifications:
Piton length, mm: 130
Blade length, mm: 70
Weight, g: 81
Minimum breaking strength, kN: 18
